There is something almost prehistoric about herons, with their long legs, deliberate movements, and watchful eyes. They stand motionless at the water’s edge, sometimes for what seems like an eternity, before striking with astonishing speed and precision. Whether stalking the shallows, squabbling over territory, or launching themselves into the air with awkward determination, herons are full of character and endlessly fascinating to photograph.
